Avengers of the Week | We Love to See It
The work to end gender inequality is essential but exhausting. Not only are you contending with the struggles to change the systems and rules, but individuals invested in maintaining the status quo can also create resistance and barriers. Keep your head up! This week’s Avengers of the Week gave us much to think about… and we love to see it!
On Twitter, you can find wisdom and inspiration almost anywhere… Emilien Houard-Vial (@ehouardvial) sparked thoughts on where we direct our vitriol and how and why we must call people in on the gender equality journey.
Advocacy we loved this week! (And you should too…)
At the beginning of the year, we asked if your feminism was intersectional. It’s important that as we elevate women's voices in public dialogue, we position ourselves to hear all women’s voices.
And finally, what do you do if a woman with a marginalized identity speaks out against your privilege? In this thread, Jessica Dunrod (@JDunrod) drew ire for mentioning the lack of Black and Asian women’s authors at a children’s writers workshop. She was not met with an intersectional response. We encourage you to read the entire conversation thread here:
