Turn Your Election Night Anxiety Into Action With the GA Tally App
Tonight’s election night coverage will have us all at the edge of our seats, but instead of rage tweeting or nervously eating your way through the last of the Halloween candy, turn your anxiety into action with the GenderAvenger election night checklist.
You know you’ll be on your phone scrolling through social media anyway, so why not open up the GA Tally app and get to work:
Use the #GenderAvenger hashtag to share what you see!
Create and share a GA Tally of the news panels you see. Are there enough women? How about women of color? Point out all-male panels to your peers.
While everyone focuses on predictions and vote totals, make note of who is speaking. Use the Time Who’s Talking feature to show whether men or women are getting more talk time, and then share the tallies on social.
Use the tallies to tweet at the news channels and let them know how they’re doing.
Share the GA Tally app with your followers and encourage them to do the same.
However you choose to be a GenderAvenger tonight, it’s important that our attention does not dwindle after the election. No matter who wins, conferences, panels, summits, referendums, and endless opinions on how the country should or should not be run will continue, and women should be involved in all of it. If or when women aren’t included, we must stick together and demand that women be seen and heard.
Let your voice be heard tonight and every night. Be the person who speaks up for what really matters — the fair representation of women on every platform.
