The Remote Work Summit Speaker List Achieves Gender Balance
If there is a more timely conference than the Remote Work Summit (April 14–16), we don’t know what it is. The summit — which includes “advocates of flexible work, work from anywhere policies, sharing economy, diversity & gender balance at work” — features a well-balanced speaker list of 51% men and 49% women, 21% of whom are women of color. Remote Work Summit falls short of the GA Stamp of Approval’s women of color requirement, though, and we are disappointed. During this current COVID-19 crisis, one with particularly disproportionate effects on communities of color, it is vitally important that women of color be both a visible and vocal presence. Despite this oversight, we are pleased that they did the work to put together a group of speakers where women as a general group are equally represented.
Let Remote Work Summit know that their success with gender balance matters:
The timely #RemoteWorkSummit kicks off with 51% men & 49% women speakers! @GenderAvenger congratulates @theremote_life for ensuring gender balance, despite missing out on winning a GA Stamp of Approval without enough WOC. #GenderAvenger #RemoteWork https://www.genderavenger.com/blog/remote-work-summit-gender-balance
