πŸ“£πŸš¨ ACT NOW | The Phocuswright Conference Is Definitely Not There Yet

Thank you to GenderAvenger extraordinaire Cindy Gallop for looping us in on this one.

The theme of The 2019 Phocuswright Conference is β€œAre We There Yet?” If β€œthere” is referring to gender parity, then the answer is– not even close. 81% of the speakers at this conference are men, meaning only 19% are women, and as if that low number isn’t bad enough, 40% of those women are employees of Phocuswright Inc. Worthy as they might be, featuring that many employees diminishes the diversity of viewpoints even further.

But wait, the hits just keep on coming. When Lindsay Nelson, President of Core Experience at TripAdvisor, called this imbalance out on LinkedIn, the responses from Phocuswright Inc. and others were basically just a rewrite of our Excuses page.

Get it together, Phocuswright! Admit you were wrong, explain how you’re going to do better, and then prove it by having a more diverse speaker lineup at your next conference.

πŸ“£πŸš¨ You just don’t get it, @phocuswright. Making excuses for the lack of women speakers at The #Phocuswright Conference doesn’t make it right. The only thing that does is putting more women on stage. cc: @CindyGallop https://www.genderavenger.com/blog/phocuswright-conference-definitely-not-there-yet
