Action Alert | Mozilla Wins a GA Gold Stamp of Approval for MozFest 2018
As GenderAvengers know, tech conferences are notoriously bad at putting together gender-diverse speaker lineups… but hold the phone. Look what Mozilla has done!
Mozilla, the nonprofit organization behind the Firefox web browser, has earned a GA Gold Stamp of Approval for MozFest, a “seven day celebration for, by, and about people who love the internet, showcasing world-changing ideas and technology through workshops, talks, and interactive sessions.” Their featured speaker lineup consists of 78% women, a whopping 79% of whom are women of color!
Kevin Zawacki, Communications Manager for the Mozilla Foundation and MozFest Speaker Series Designer:
Exciting news! MozFest features speakers from across the internet health movement -- from privacy researchers to digital rights activists. This is an inclusive and diverse movement with roots all over the world, and we want that to carry over onto the MozFest stage.
We know that if a tech giant like Mozilla can do it, there should be no excuses from anyone else.
Congratulations, MozFest 2018!
Another @GenderAvenger Gold Stamp of Approval, and this time it's for a tech conference! Huge kudos to @mozilla for their #MozFest 2018 lineup. #GenderAvenger https://www.genderavenger.com/blog/mozilla-ga-gold-stamp-of-approval-mozfest-2018
