The Keynote Lineup At CES 2020 Earns Bronze GA Stamp of Approval for Keynote and Featured Speakers

The internet is abuzz with great deals on robot vacuums, virtual reality headsets, and wireless headphones, which means only one thing… okay, two things. One, the holidays are upon us, and, two, it’s almost time for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

We started tracking CES two years ago before their 2018 show, and, if you’ve been a fan of GenderAvenger that long, you know our findings really got some attention. If you are a newer member of our community, search CES on our website and you’ll see what we’re talking about. Their 2019 speaker lineup did a complete 180 from 2018 when they achieved gender balance and earned a Gold GA Stamp of Approval. We could not be more proud of the work we did — along with several prominent corporate CMOs — to show CES the error of their ways. We played a powerful part in turning things around in just one year.

As of this writing, CES has announced seven keynote speakers for 2020 — four men and three women, one of whom is a woman of color — a lineup that earns a Bronze GA Stamp of Approval. While the number of women delivering keynote addresses is down from 50% in 2019 to 43% in 2020, it is still a significant improvement from 2018.

We are also pleased to report that the CES featured speaker list for 2020 earns a Bronze GA Stamp of Approval (falling just shy of a Silver). As of this writing, there are 42% men and 58% women, 39% of whom are women of color. Surely one or two of the featured speakers belong on the mainstage as keynoters.

🥉 ‘Tis the season for @GenderAvenger to see how women fare on the #CES2020 speaker list. ‪Happy to report @CES is keeping its promise with‬ keynote and featured lists worthy of Bronze GA Stamps of Approval. #CES #GenderAvenger https://www.genderavenger.com/blog/keynote-lineup-ces-2020-bronze-ga-stamp-of-approval
