#HallofShame | Block Chain Summit
"There are 36 men and 1 woman going to a big Bitcoin summit on Richard Branson’s private island":
Next month, Virgin Group billionaire Sir Richard Branson is hosting a bunch of people at Necker Island, his “private paradise” in the British Virgin Islands, to talk about Bitcoin. A website about the Blockchain Summit at Necker Island promises that it will gather the “top thinkers in the world of Blockchain, Digital Currency and Bitcoin to help DEFINE THE FUTURE.”
Apparently, the top thinkers defining our future are all dudes. Of the 37 participants, moderators and hosts listed as attending the summit, the only woman is Susi Mai, a professional kiteboarder.
Block Chain Summit invites people to "come visit with Sir Richard Branson on his private island for a set of intimate discussions highlighting critical issues and solutions and to lay out the framework for a world where humankind is fully benefiting from the amazing technology behind the Blockchain." With less than 3% women speakers, apparently Block Chain Summit doesn't think women play an important role in laying out a framework that benefits humankind, and we're not the only ones who noticed:
Wow. 1 woman. MT @DavidSilvaSmith: My friends going to @richardbranson #bitcoin @BlockChainSum http://t.co/VysixPy00k pic.twitter.com/qkaTEY39yk

I wonder just who "the future" that will be "defined" by the 94,9% male "top thinkers” at @BlockChainSum will most benefit.

@BlockChainSum Not one female participant in your summit?! How do you intend to shape the future when you're missing 50% of the population?

You can do much better, Block Chain Summit.
Encourage Block Chain Summit to rethink its priorities:
