"Women’s Voices Theater Festival Celebrates Female Playwrights":
Ordinarily, plays written by men dominate stages in the nation’s capital, just as they do in the rest of the country — an imbalance that female playwrights have been agitating to change for a while. But for the next couple of months here, the usual rules will not apply.
Plays by women will be out in force during the Women’s Voices Theater Festival, whose 51 participating theaters, including the area’s largest, will stage 56 world-premiere productions by 58 female playwrights, including Julia Jordan, Sheila Callaghan and Bekah Brunstetter.
