Wake up Hollywood: A new report shows that “…the percentages of female and minority actors, writers, directors and producers in films and TV ranges from less than 10% to 50% of their actual population percentage.” After last week's Oscars, that's no surprise. So what’s the news? TV shows and films with more diverse casts are excelling, even if they’re in the minority.
Silicon Valley Could Learn a Lot From Skater Culture. Just Not How to Be a Meritocracy. The similar trajectories of women in skateboarding and in Silicon Valley are terrible and fascinating. There’s a lot of hope here, though, including a look at a skating community that’s 40% female.
