In an interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Dr. Ritchie recalled being told by her justice department boss in the 1950s that her job depended on her providing him with sexual favours. Still, she persisted, never losing sight of what was important to her. She contributed to legislation that guaranteed women equal pay for work of equal value, made it easier for them to get a divorce and gave them the right to sit on juries.
