#GoodRead | Gerda Lerner and the Historical Importance of Women's Visibility
Late historian Gerda Lerner's (1920–2013) explanation of the historical importance of women's visibility in Women and History is moving. Raised in the 1970s and 80s, I had few non-tragic heroines and historical women figures to look to, and that shaped not only my vision of history and women's place in it but also my own vision for my future. This can be a difficult mould to break, and I am grateful to Lerner and others like her who fight to keep women in the picture.
