"Women lead classrooms but not school districts - and say inequality persists":

About 75 percent of teachers in Ohio are women, but they represent only 15 percent of superintendents, 100 out of 700.

When the Northeast Ohio Media Group surveyed superintendents in 25 districts it learned only four were women.

And while data shows the number is increasing, the percentage of women still lags.

"We have a profession of women that are run by men," said Rosemary Gornik, a retired superintendent and professor at Kent State University. "There is a glass ceiling."
