“Corporate events appear to be littered with panels dominated by men”:
Criticism of all-male panels have become so ubiquitous that the events have their own nickname — #manels. But the derision doesn’t seem to be changing much, new evidence suggests.
Roughly 68% of speakers at corporate events were men in 2018, according to a report released this month by Bizzabo, a company that makes event management software. That’s little changed from 2016 when 70% of speakers were men and 30% were women. To come up with the findings, Bizzabo used facial recognition technology to analyze more than 60,000 photos of event speakers in its database.
