Avenger of the Week | Ursula K. Le Guin, Author
It’s a well-known fact that women science fiction writers are a minority, but among those few there was one who gained the respect and praise of the science fiction community and genderavengers alike. Ursula K. Le Guin, who passed away this week, is remembered not only for her writing but also for refusing to be part of an anthology that only included stories written by men. In a letter declining the invitation to write a blurb for the anthology, she stated that while she could stand to blurb a book in which her writing is mocked, she would not do so for an anthology that not only excluded women writers but also had the overall tone of a locker room. (Where have we heard that before?)
