Avenger of the Week | NO Excuse For NO Women
Thanks for tagging us in posts on social when you saw gender imbalance or gender inequality. Just a reminder, we’re using the weekly Avenger of the Week alert to highlight those using social media to call out gender inequality in their communities.
The GI Surgery 2022 meeting had an “outstanding agenda” with NO women! Thankfully more than a few folks took note. The comments on the original post were beautiful - great questions for the event organizers to think about moving forward. For this week's #AvengersOfTheWeek, we considered everyone who commented on or quote-tweeted the original post.
Here are a few of our favorite tweets…
There’s no excuse for no women, but sometimes you got to bring folks along on the gender equality journey. In this week’s Action Alert, we said, “individuals need responses and resources that equip them with how to proceed when invited to an event that is not gender-equal or intersectional in representation.” Our final GenderAvenger this week is an excellent example of just that. Nicole Behnam asked, “Where are the women?” and then shared a list of Women in Web3 with Twitter handles!
The power of community-supported individual action was strong this week. Help us keep the manel-fighting energy alive by holding organizations, conferences, and communities accountable!
Tag us in conversations on social that need amplification, let us know when someone is advocating for gender equality, and follow our “Fight The #Manel” Twitter List.
📣✊ This week’s #AvengersOfTheWeek made it clear that there’s NO excuse for NO women. Our #GenderAvenger Avengers of the Week are Greta McLachlan, Professor Steve Wigmore, Tristan Beer, Manel Watch Australia, and Nicole Behnam.
