Thanks to GenderAvenger and beer enthusiast Candace DeLeon for introducing us to Beer With(out) Beards and its founder, Grace Weitz. While finishing her Masters in Food Studies thesis at New York University, Weitz penned a “quest to empower all women in craft beer”. What started out as a thought on paper turned into a week-long gathering of women and men alike, highlighting women in the craft beer industry, from brewers to marketers to pub owners. Throughout the week, workshops, industry discussions, and, of course, product sampling provide networking opportunities for those already in the industry and a place for women-led breweries to showcase their product.
By the way, if you’re interested to learn more about women in the craft beer industry, go ahead and Google “women in craft beer”. We were pleased and a little surprised by how many women are ditching the wine and fruity drink stereotype and following their passion for beer.
While working on her Master's thesis, #AvengerOfTheWeek Grace Weitz embarked on a “quest to empower all women in craft beer”, and Beers With(out) Beards was born.
