📣🚨 ACT NOW | No Women Keynote Speakers In 5 Years At the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting Means They Have a Problem

For the past five years, there have been no women keynote speakers at the American Society of Anesthesiologist Annual Meeting (ASA). We called them out for their poor gender representation in 2017, and, sadly, nothing has improved — the 2018 keynote speaker was a man, and the 2019 keynote speaker is, you guessed it, a man. As if that wasn’t bad enough, their 2019 Featured & Plenary speakers are 90% men and only 10% women.

It’s no surprise that the organization called Women in Anesthesiology, a group devoted to the professional development of women anesthesiologists (and a great follow on Twitter, btw), hold their own Annual Conference at the same time with three women delivering keynote addresses. It’s clear that the American Society of Anesthesiologists has a problem they need to fix.
