Action Alert | Stick to Your Own Conference, Women In Healthcare
Late last year, Stanford University put together the wildly successful Women Leaders in Global Health conference, with 400+ women and men from 68 countries and 250+ institutions. This year, at the same location, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is hosting its LIGHT Forum: Leaders In Global Healthcare and Technology, which features a speaker lineup of a whopping 26 men and only one woman.
Where did all those fabulous women from the last conference go? Seems like another example of women being assigned their place (a women’s conference) and then, once again, being told their voices don’t have value.
Oh @UPMCnews, you’re doing it wrong! 26 men and only 1 woman speaking at @Light_Forum! Surely you can find more than one woman leader in global healthcare. #genderavenger https://www.genderavenger.com/blog/action-alert-light-forum-conference-no-women-healthcare
